A grad nurse is someone who has graduated but not taken the Nclex yet, so this is correct. At Clarian you get hired on getting paid RN pay; then if after you have taken the Nclex and you don't pass you have to become like a cna and your pay decreases, you also have to meet with your manager, clinical coordinator and the nurse educator to discuss maybe what went wrong, what they can do to help, etc. Also at this time as I understand it you are not in orientation anymore until you have passed and then you would pick back up where you left off. If you would happen to take it a second time and did not pass then you would be terminated. That is why Kaplan is included in the orientation, so everyone has the best chance of passing on the first time. One of my friends who got hired on at a different hospital in Indy got hired on as a grad nurse and is not getting started out at RN pay, and I think hers will increase when she passes the Nclex. Hope this helps!
