~West Suburban College of Nursing VERSUS North Park U. Nursing?~

Hi everyone. I got into WSCN for Spring 2008, and North Park University for the BSN undergrad program (non accelerated). Did anyone else get accepted?? If so, say hi! So I am wondering... which school is better? Which school has better and cooler teachers? A higher NCLEX pass rate? Anyone here a former student of WSCN or North Park? PLEASE, I would love to hear your opinions and experiences!!!

(ps - I did read those OLD posts about WSCN, and how it supposedly was a BAD experience for a student. maybe the school has gotten better over time?) Oh! And I know Oak park isn't the best neighborhood where WSCN is situated, but is it really that scary?

I'm not sure about NPU but I believe WSCN has come a long way in their program. They've added a night/weekend option for their BSN which I will be starting in January. They seem to be very focused on their students and very encouraging. Don't believe some of those old posts you have read. This school is and has made a lot of recent changes with more to come. Their adding more programs and even talking about new facilities for students.

The night/weekend program is great for someone like me because I work part-time at a local hospital and I am expecting my 5th child. I am very excited about the program and everyone I've spoken to at WSCN has gone out of their way to assist me from the start --from advising to financial aid and everything in-between. I have applied at several other area universities but none have treated me the way that the WSCN faculty has. It is a small school with small class sizes which is always a plus.

Even though I have not started the program, I am very confident in not only the school's program but my own abilities as well. Good Luck on your decision! I'm sure you'll make the right one for you.

Hi Donna, I appreciate your reply. How long is the weekend/night bsn program? I have decided on WSCN as well, for January, although not the weekend/night program you're going into. I'm in the generic program. I agree with you 100%, West Sub has a great faculty. They're pretty reliable with all my questions and concerns. Both of their couselors (elizabeth fern and zach sujith) are super friendly, professional, and great. NPU's admission is not as orgranized. I hope the professors at WSCN reflects their faculty's good work =). I had heard from one student that goes to West Sub that the teachers there are NOT very enthusiastic, yet from another source, a different student told me that she really likes it there. So I've got mixed reviews. As long as I learn a lot, I'm satisfied. I am very excited and scared at the same time!! Good luck w/the program, and your 5th child!!

How do you like WSCN so far? I'm thinking about going there.
