I grew up in McLeansboro. I live in a different state now. I've thought about moving back but I've heard health care is not a booming business in McLeansboro.
I spent the first 18 years of my life in Marion, IL. Spent the last 21 traveling the globe in the Air Force.
I can see myself going back to Southern Illinois someday within the next few years. I could be near family and lakes and cliffs and the Shawnee Forest. I miss them all.
I live just south of Decatur and work in Decatur. I consider that central IL, but when I lived in the Joliet area, they referred to anything south of I-80 as "Southern IL"

Yep! I grew up in Ottawa (right on I-80), and was very surprised to learn (when I attended NIU in DeKalb) that I was from "downstate"!
I am from a town about 20 miles north of East St. Louis. but now I live in Rockford which is about as north as you can get in il without being in WI! Where are you from?
