Pre-entrance exam - question

Ok...I am preparing to take the NLN pre-entrance exam in November. I have taken it before and to me, the vocabulary section was pretty difficult!! A lot of words I would NEVER know!!

So, can any of you give me some pointers other than the NLN pre-entrance study guide, how I can study for the vocabulary section? Or just any pointers in general

Thanks!
Lori

Re: Pre-entrance exam - question

I made my own vocabulary flash cards when I prepared for the GRE, which I think has more difficult vocabulary. I committed myself to learn at least 200 new words in one month, which came out to 50 words a week. I practiced while riding the bus and waiting in line. You can probably make your own list of words to study by looking at the verbal section of the NLN review guide. Another important thing is to review latin word roots and prefixes and suffixes.

Don't put so much pressure on yourself-- just use the flashcards, let your eyes see the words over and over again and eventually they will start to sink in. The cool thing is when you start to notice the new words you are learning in your everyday life.

Re: Pre-entrance exam - question

I recently took the NLN and studied all the words in the book. Only about 3 were on the exam.

Try to relax. You also have the reading part of the vocab too which is worth a lot of points.

Good luck!

Did you buy the NLN-RN book? It helped. Go over the section that you have been having problems with.
