Question Need help with schools to go in chicago?

Hi,

I've done a bit of research and decided I want to be a RN. Looking into what schools would best fit my time and budget. I went to school like 8 years ago and have credits so I want to transfer them but I don't know if they will even do that being that is has been so long ago.

I applied to Xavier - got denied - application still pending at UIC so now I'm a bit worried. I'm now looking into community colleges in case I get denied admission at UIC as well.

Specifically Olive Harvey - I saw in previous posts from years ago that they were not accredited and saw nothing on their website to indicate otherwise. I called up the school and the lady in their nursing department was puzzled as to why I would ask. She says of course and in regards to what? So I'm not sure if she even knew what I was talking about

So any experiences with Olive Harvey please and say if I don't use my credits and start new - how long would it generallt take to graduate if i went full time?

Thanks

Re: Need help with schools to go in chicago?

Hi,
I have been out of college like 10yrs and was told that those credit especially like Anatomy and Physiology,Chemistry, all the science would not count becuz they have to be aleast 5 yrs. old. Doesn't mean u couldn't look into other majors. Ur best bet is talking to someone in a Com. College like acedemic advisors or counselor and have them look at ur transcripts to see what classes still are acceptable.
I kinda fell in a same situation like you while applying into a LPN program. My A&P class was out to date and have to take it over. It happens. Hope this helps in some way and wish u best of luck.

Re: Need help with schools to go in chicago?

Hello,

Olive Harvey is accredited, but sometimes community colleges are actually harder to get into than Xavier, etc. because of their low cost and the fact that it takes less time to graduate from there. Try taking a few more science/required classes to get your gpa up, then apply and you should have no problem. Also, if you sign up for a CNA program at Moraine Valley or another school, its worth 7 credit hours, so you could work as a CNA after only 8 weeks and if you get an A, its worth a lot to your GPA. Then you should have an easier time getting in.
