I am from Northern Illinois....I have my mind set on starting with my LPN and later, when the children are older, continuing on. I had planned on doing my RN at CLC but the wait is too long and I truly do not have 2 yrs. (personal circumstances)

I have searched high and low, all schools, that I have read on this forum....most of the private schooling is quite a distance from me and I would like to know if anyone has had experience with any schools closer to Lake County Illinois.

I have most of the pre-req's completed, for the RN, from CLC. I do not have my CNA, which I am not realizing, every institution, is requiring...

I have seen so many people talk about schools, closer to Chicago but with the construction going on, on the tollway and me needing to attend-nights...these leaves my commute, fairly exhausting and gas prices are crazy.

Anyone know of any decent private schools, vocational or otherwise....that there is not a long wait, to get in?? I am feeling quite frustrated, with the lack of information on the school websites!!

I, too, live in northern Lake County and just completed my first semester as a nursing student at CLC. I've found that the only other alternatives for nursing school are probably across the border in WI at Gateway or at Harper College in Palatine. I don't know if they offer LPN programs, however.
Have you taken the nursing entrance exam yet? You really can't plan on securing a spot in any program until you take it and that will set you up for the semester after next for admission.
There really is no smooth track to get what you want in a short amount of time and, as the ADN program is 4 semesters long, it will still be 2 years until you get your RN.

I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying...I do not want to 'fast track' the RN program. I don't have a year + just to wait to get a spot in the Nursing Program, for reasons I will not get in to here but I am not 21 years old, I have a family to support. So for me, the LPN program will have to do, until I no longer have little ones.

Sadly, by the amount of resposes....I think most of the LPN programs, are closer to the Chicago area.

Im attending J' Renee career Facilatation in Crystal Lake Illinois.
It is a one year LPN program. So far so good. The teachers are great and have had decent clinical experiences. I graduate in December.
