Any Moraine Valley People Out There?

Hi!...I've started taking my pre-reqs at Moraine and just wanted to know what others thought of the school and it's RN program...Are there any LPN-RN Bridge students out there? I here it's hard for LPN's to bridge into the program.

Ahh yes...good ol'e Moron Valley aka UCLA (University Closest to La grange Avenue)

Just kidding really! Actually MVCC is considered among the top ADN programs in the area if not the state. 600 applicants for 40 or so seats, that's something else! They haven't accepted an out of district student to the program in 13 years....too many in-district applicants. Good luck, it's a tough program.

Re: Any Moraine Valley People Out There?

I hear so many mixed feelings about MVCC...their waiting list is outrageous and the faculty is very discouraging. Two of my friends attend the program. I had the privilege of working with MVCC students in my leadership clinicals and was amazed by their nursing skills, but when it came to critcal thinking and applying theory they lacked in performance.

Re: Any Moraine Valley People Out There?

I graduated from moraine valley 2 yrs ago, I feel that I could not have gotten a better education anywhere, and graduates from other schools needed longer orientation than graduates from our program. The human resource manager from our facility told me that she will hire a Moraine Graduate over other schools because of the reputation surrounding Moraine Valley. I agree this is a VERY hard program, however you will be more than prepared for the real nursing world!!!!!!! Private message me anytime!!! I am passionate about the program and the world of nursing!!!!

Re: Any Moraine Valley People Out There?

I am a MVCC student. Applied for fall '08, so basicly I run to my mailbox everyday since March 15. HAHA, I kid....(not really). I know what my POINTS are, and I'm pretty confident I'll be accepted, but will not rest until I have the letter in my hand. I took all my pre req's there including my CNA class. So if you have any pre-nursing questions, feel free to pm me.
I am super nervous to begin, I hear it's a killer :X

Oh Woody, you are too kind when describing the program as 'tough.' But we don't want to scare the newbies..lol. I also wish you guys the best as you start at Moraine. It is a rough tough program but worth every bit of effort! Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Any Moraine Valley People Out There?

I graduated from MVCC's nursing program in 1998. I'm not sure if any of the instructors I had are still there. But when I was there, they were tough as nails. Less than half of my class ended up graduating. But you know what, when I got out, I had a very solid knowledge base and several job offers. When I started my first job (in L&D, where I still am), I hit the ground running. I know many new grads that I started with and later new grads that I trained myself from other schools who had less knowledge, less confidence, and took a lot longer to get a handle on nursing.
Good luck to you!
