We'll be living near Mtn. Home, but I'm guessing I'll be driving quite a ways to attend nursing school? I'd love some info./advice on the nursing programs in/around Boise. I'm an LPN currently, but also have a BS degree in Human Services, so I'm looking for the LPN to RN bridge program, or possibly a 2nd-degree program?

If anyone knows of any, please let me know. I'm currently taking pre-reqs, and hope to start either this Fall or Spring of 2009.

I am not familiar with their program, but Idaho State University (ISU) does have a Nursing Fast Track Program in Boise, Idaho. It's website (http://www.isu.edu/boisectr/p_bs_nursing.shtml) states the following:

"The "Fast Track" undergraduate degree is offered to individuals who have a bachelor's degree in another discipline and wish to make a career change. This program is four (4) semesters in length and admits students every spring semester."

I attended the ISU LPN to RN program in Pocatello, Idaho, where ISU is located, and can attest to its thoroughness and quality. I imagine the ISU Boise Nursing Program is high quality as well.

I actually looked into the LPN to RN/ADN program that you attended, and I was surprised to see that they offer a portion of the program online. I would only have to attend the main campus a couple of days a month or so. I'm very excited about it. Instead of getting the BSN (which is all I can find offered in Boise), I may just opt to get the ADN. (If I can get accepted that is) I originally wanted the ADN to begin with anyways !! I owe enough in student loans as it is...LOL

Also, how far is Pocatello from Mountain Home, do you know? I wouldn't mind driving!!

Sorry it took so long, but I was off-line for a little while.

The classes are mostly on-line, with several days at campus every month. I think it is an excellent program, although slightly difficult, and I learned a tremendous amount about the nursing profession, as well as the basics to pass the NCLEX. Twenty two out of twenty three students in my class passed the NCLEX the first try - one individual took three tries but had allot of text anxiety.

Also, once you get your RN, ISU has an ADN to BSN program that is also mostly on-line, depending on the number of basic credits you need towards a degree. ISU also has an ADN to MSN degree on-line (I am currently in that program).

I think it is around a three hour drive from Mountain Home to Pocatello, and it is all on I84 which is a good road.

Close to Mountain Home? Your options are all in Boise unless you decide to do an online RN program and do clinicals close to Mountain Home.
