Hello!

What do you guys think of Apollo LPN program. I am going to start school sometime this year. I already have a BS in biology . Where's the best place to work as an LPN? I'm interested in critical care, EM, or operating room. Whar are the advantages and disadvantages for an apollo grad? How hard is it to get into the bridge program at BSU? Any more thoughts/advice? Thanks.

PS: I am also a guy

If you already have a Bachelora degree in biology, why on earth would you waste you time with an LPN program? Apply to an Accelerted BSN program, and in the time it takes you to finish, you have a BSN. LPNs are being phased out all over the country, and have a limited scope of practice. Here in Spokane, Sacred Heart laid off ALL OF THEIR LPNS. About the only place that LPNs can work here is in Nursing Homes. I don't know how hard it is to get into the bridge program at BSU, you will have to contact them. But I don't think that a four year college has a bridge program for LPNs, only for Diplomas or ADNs, who are already RNs. You are really better off finding an accelerated program for individuals who already have a Bachelors degree in something.

Re: Apollo College

If you've got good grades in your BS classes, which you'll need for CRNA anyway, then there's no reason why you wouldn't be selected for an RN program if they go off of a point system rather than strictly a waiting list. LPN and then RN is a waste of a year if you're wanting to go for your masters and are able to commit.

Not to mention, apollo college has a HORRIBLE reputation for their education. Even if you pass their program, I doubt it prepares you as well as others to take your boards... You'll need a solid education to advance on.

Well, I am planning on becoming an RN/CRNA or PA .....

*** If your goal is PA why not simply go to PA school? You could have it done in 15-24 months depending on what program you choose. Most are masters programs and the degree you already have would be enough.
I think spending a year in LPN school would be a waste for you. In most areas you can forget about working in acute care as a LPN.

Re: Apollo College

Hi All! I just joined and am so glad to be in contact with those involved in Nursing.
I am actually in the same boat-
I have a BA in Psy from Purdue and am also planning on starting classes at Apollo. It was never my goal to attend a LPN program and my plan is to become a BSN but it has been VERY difficult to get into an RN program.
Much "run-around", no guarantees of placement (I was told 3-5 yr average wait even for the acclerated BSN program). I thought having a Bachelors would help in placement but no one I've been in contact with sees it as a bonus for pursuing an RN progam.
Any suggestions would be MOST welcomed!!

Actually, LCSC was awarded top school in Idaho this year, and North Idaho College just got a brand new health science building with all new equipment and a dedicated nursing lab. Where are you getting your information from?
