Question New Grad. & Relocating!!

Hi everyone....

I am currently a nursing student on the verg of graduation (7 more weeks!!!)...... My husband is in the Navy and we have just learned that we must relocate to Hawaii immediately after my graduation. I have started doing some research on nursing in Oahu but I am having some trouble finding information. I have a couple of questions that I’m hoping you all can answer!!!

First, what is the current nursing situation in Oahu? I have looked for new grad. programs online, but I have only found three possible choices. Each of the facilities also state that spaces are very limited….. is Oahu a competitive market?

Secondly, what is the average starting salary for a nurse in Oahu? I have heard that the cost of living is extremely high ( I have never even been to Hawaii!!!). Do the nursing salaries reflect the states high cost of living?

Lastly, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a facility in Oahu that is especially good. (new grad programs) any personal experiences would be welcomed!!!

Thanks for helping me work out my moving jitters!!!!

Well Aloha!!!
My husband is an active duty Marine and we were transfered to MCBH a few months ago. I'd try Queen's Hospital it's relatively close to Pearl Harbor, but not really it's all relative KWIM? Anyway you can find the information that you're looking for at Queens.org in regard to salary and new grad programs.
