Need advises

Hi everybody,

I am Canadian nurse. I am moving to Oahu on July 9, 2006 ( 1 more month). I have RN license in Minnesota. I am applying for Hawaii RN license. It has been a month since I sent my application form to Hawaii. My Minnesota RN license is already verified by NURSYS but until now I still haven't received any information from DCCA.
I have some questions, could any of you answer me?

1. How long should I wait to have Hawaii RN license?
2. Should I apply to have a job in Hawaii before I have my Hawaii license? ( I am a US immigrant, therefore, I don't think It's hard for me to get SSN).
3. Is it hard or easy to get a job as a registered nurse in Honolulu?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I don't think its hard to get a job as a registered nurse. Pretty much all the big hospitals are looking for RN's.

Re: Need advises

There are 5 large healthcare systems in Hawaii that are covered under the Hawaii Nurses Association. They are Kaiser Permanente, Queens Medical Center, Kuakini Healthcare, St Francis Medical, and Kapiolani Health. It is relatively easy to get a job in Hawaii as long as you have your license and a social security card. If you have any other questions regarding Hawaii, please private message me. Aloha and E' Komo Mai (Welcome) to Hawaii!
