Weather and views were great as well as some of the people. None of my favorite eating places other than Chilis and Outback. Hawaii was good training though for transition to move to developing countries! There's a chance I could come back but probably to the Big Island.

See, here's a perfect example of why I also think nursing in Hawaii IMHO is also not up to par to all the other places I've worked. You ask me a question and then attack me for my answer. You really, really ought to examine not only yourself but why you are in a helping profession. My claim to "be on the fast track to being a local" was what one of my Japanese/Hawaiian patients told me as I took care of him while your worthless union (as it is now very well known; it couldn't even function and do it's job well) advised you to abandon the very people you professed to care for. I've got horror stories about nursing from the 3 years I was there; it just made me sick to my stomach and almost made me leave nursing.

If Hawaii can take care of it's poor education record, healthcare, drugs, car thefts, poorly engineered roads, horrible business practices, burning down the mountains and a host of other well known and publicized problems then maybe me and others will consider Hawaii more positively. So sistah, give someone else your beef. If you're not careful, I may move back to Alamihi St and be a white boy in Waianae again, lol!

Next time you don't want an answer, be smart enough not to ask for it.

Your rather pompous, chest-thumping posts are more amusing than frightening, Randall. The mention of Waianae doesn't exactly send shivers through my spine. You think it should?

Hawaii has problems, just like any other part of the country. Lots of problems. The people who love it try to make it better. Those who don't love it just criticize and belittle. With a little luck, they pack up and move on.

BTW, if you do end up here again, do yourself a favor and check out a few restaurants besides mainland chain places. Alan Wong's, Chai's Island Bistro, Indigo. You might have to wear a shirt and put down the stick, though ;-D.

Oh---and the "worthless union" just settled with the Big Five. Raises of 20.5 to 23 per cent over three years. Think that would have happened without a union? Doubt it.

Let me get this straight, moderator. A poster ask me what I don't like about Hawaii. Now since she asked what I "don't like," this to most intelligent people implies that there will be a negative response. (She could have asked me what I liked about Hawaii) Then, since I'm honest (Nurses Top List in Honesty and Ethics Again in Gallup Poll. http://poll.gallup.com/) I tell her what I did not like about Hawaii. Then she attacks me (racially even) and I give her an "educational moment." For that I get 1 point from the moderator. What is the world coming to? What the hell does 1 point get me, anyway?
