Aloha to Hawai'i for now...JOBS???

Aloha--I dont know if anyone else has had a problem finding a position in Honolulu or not as a new BSN grad, but I have finally given up after MONTHS of searching/applying for posted jobs and calling ALL area facilities.

I recently accepted a position back on the mainland in a level I ER/trauma position with a good orientation (after moving back to my new home here in HI)... Hate to leave, but in my experience, I have gotten the "run around" with every hospital here!

Maybe with some experience in the ER...A M/S position will be offered when I come back..

Aloha and good luck to everyone!

Honestly, I think any hospital that employs new grads here will be very hesitant to hire you. Practically speaking, if you are only going to be here for a year, training you would be a financial loss for them.

Sorry---wish I could offer some encouragement. Kaiser just announced that it is cutting back, firing 90 people including 28 nurses.

Oh no! =( I'm sorry that you had to leave Hawaii! If you decide to come back, try Altres Medical. They find alot of work for you if you have at least one yr. experience.

Thanks ParadiseRN! The hospital that I am going to work for is also going to pay for some masters level classes...I am still bummed that I have to leave my friends and my dog and the island for a bit......But working in a level I trauma hospital/er is great experience...
