There very very few jobs as an lpn in atlanta, the jobs you see advertised, like northside have been on there web for longer than a year, and there is a position that dekalb medical center has been advertising for an lpn in the E.R since last year. i lost every thing in atlanta trying to find work , house ,car etc.. i was working for an agency in a hospital fulltime on MED/SURG, PCU and ICU and the company went bankrupt, I had to move to miami were I don't work as hard as i did in atlanta and bring home about 7000.00 a month taking care of one 11 year old child! I know how you feel i wish someone would have told me the real deal about atlanta and LPN's. now don't get me wrong it's a great place for RN's, espiecally if your a hustler, i'm currently enrolled in excelsior college and have been knocking tests out of the way like crazy, i'll move back to atlanta AFTER I finish school because miami has a lot of work but to live down here stinks the crime is off the charts and the school system sucks. anyway hope this helps.
Are you working as an LPN in Miami or did you get another job?
There are plenty of LPN jobs in Atlanta. If you're interested in LTC, the possibilities are endless. There are also tons of staffing agencies who hire LPN's for hospital, LTC, and physician office jobs...often these are great ways to find a permanent position.

where please tell me cause if they are they are not paying much, techs in the hospital get paid more than lpn's in ATL
I live in Rome about an hour north of Atlanta. Most Atlanta hospitals are "phaseing out LPN positions. Kennastone did but I think they have now stopped hiring LPN's. Here in Rome we have 2 hospital's that do hire LPN's Redmond and Floyd and in Cartersville Hospital dose hire LPN's but still about 30 min out of atlanta. Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta does not hire LPN's AT ALL!!! I applied there and interviewed and was told that if I would not use my LPN and go back to phelbotomy I could start the next day. Good luck.
I keep hearing from LPNs that unless you already have a position you are going to find it difficult to find a job in hospital unless you want to do LTC. It seems as though they are pushing LPNs into the LTC area and thats it. Keep looking but i had a recruiter tell me when i was doing clinicals that they need nurses but rather RNs not LPNs. Some hospitals will not hire LPNs anymore.
So when all the LPN's got into LTC eventually does anyone think it will it be hard to find a position?
I will be getting my LPN in NC then moving to Atlanta to do LPN-RN will working. If I have to do LTC until I graduate that's fine. But if it will be hard to find a job perhaps I'd be better off getting my AND?
