I am first starting out as an LPN and enroll into Appalachian Tech to see if I like nursing. If I enjoy it I will go on from there to be a RN but since I would be a LPN I would already have my pre-reqs. Where are you going??

I was accepted to the KSU program a few weeks ago and I'm really excited. I've talked to students in the program right now and they seem very pleased. I will say that it is getting very hard to get in. I'm an LPN and they say they completely disregard any experience and go strictly on the best 7 grades of the 12 prerequisits they require. I had 7 A's and I hear you can't get in with less than that now that there are so many applying. I would definately try though because I believe that signifies what a great program they have. I'll write more when I start. Good luck!

Amen to that! Take it from someone who was rejected at least 3 times. YOu definitely need 7 or more A's of the 12 prereq's! I had 5 and wasn't willing to retake any classes. I know people who are in the program and it seems just dandy. But I'm also starting to wonder why they don't expand the program. The last time I was rejected, about 820 people applied and 80 got in. And at least 40 of that 80 were people who already had degrees and were going into the accelorated program. I'm not bitter, but I do wish someone had told me all this before I wasted 3 years of my life
I edited this just to say that it is actually pretty easy to get those 7 A's at KSU. BUt if you're bringing some B's from another school like I did, then you might consider retaking those at KSU!

Re: KSU students

I was a KSN student. I graduated the program December 2006.

When I was accepted to the program, more than 800 people applied, but only 80 got in. It is a competitive world! Yes, I did have more than 7 A's even though my native launguage is not English.
My classmates were 40% non-native speakers and 60% of native English speakers. Age ranged 19-60. It was very interesting to get to know each classmate.
All I can say is be prepared. If you have grade C's, retake them. Keep your GPA up as much as possible.
I am glad I went to KSU. I think 98% of December graduate passed NCLEX.
Good luck!
