Re: Can anyone tell me the truth and stop betting around the bush.....

I have been an lpn for 3.5 years. I work in a nursing home in georgia (nowhere near atlanta). when i started i made 16.00/hr...that was 14.50 with a 1.50 shift diff for nights. I went to day shift and lost my shift diff, but by that time i was making 17 something, that has been almost two years ago and i now work m-f 8-4:30 and make 18.03/hr....i feel that this is exceptional pay for an lpn and am very pleased with my job.

Re: Can anyone tell me the truth and stop betting around the bush.....

I'm in Rome also. Starting rates for LPNs is $12.50 at Floyd Medical Center
Starting rates for RNs at FMC is $21.00. The LPNs there are expected to do EVERYTHING the RN does, except for admission assessments, which the BON states must be done by a RN...even then LPNs are expected to do them and the care plans and have a RN sign off on them. Saves BIG bucks for the hospital and if the LPN is willing to work for that...who can blame the hospital for getting by with it?? My advice to LPNs is go back and get your RN license ASAP...and get paid for the services you are performing.
NOTE*** IF ANYONE IS GOING INTO NURSING AT ANY LEVEL JUST FOR THE MONEY IT PAYS....PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! PATIENTS DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH COMPASSION BY THOSE NURSES WHO TRULY CARE ABOUT PATIENTS!!
