HI! I work at Shepherd Hospital on the med/surg unit. Sorry but I have to disagree with SuzanaS. Yes we are expanding, but we are adding an entire building. So the noise and dust are nearby, but we are all well away from it. Also the nursing staff does wear scrubs. I think she was talking about our wonderful therapy staff. Most of the time you will see them in jeans or khakis.
Shepherd is a wonderful environment to work in. It can be a difficult job based on the type of injuries that our patients have, but please don't let that deter you from thinking that Shepherd is a great place to work

. Instead of the usual three day admission at most hospitals our patient usually stay with us for four to six weeks. This allows us to develop relationships with our patients. We are huge on patient education, and the feeling that you get when you see someone going home with a level of independence that they did not believe they were capable of is overwhelming

.
Shepherd also offers an excellent benefits package

, so please go to your interview if you think that this would be the field of nursing you would like to get into. You won't find a better rehab hospital on the east coast.
