That advice made me cringe.

That is sound advice.

I think its a new requirement, or the timing is new. I endorsed to FL a few years ago and if I recall correctly at the time you had to take the class within a set period of time. As far as the Op getting a certificate from a CE provider, I say if they wont give you one due to not having a license number, find another there are dozens that will provide that class. Besides that more than likely as others have stated its included in you course work.

Try this source. Scroll down to Florida required courses, and you'll see one for medical errors (there are two: one for license renewal and another one).

http://nursing.advanceweb.com/CE/TestCenter/Main.aspx

Whatever you do, DON'T lie about completing the class if you haven't.

Update: I was VERYYYYY lucky and received my att letter via email and was able to test on july 2nd(the last spot that was available for the first week of july) and found out the very next day via flbon website i passed and the following day had a license number up. I have no idea whether or not they'll mail out my license to me but at this point I dont think it matters(unless anyone can shed some insight otherwise). I figure I can just print out my license number if need be. Just in case though I have completed the 2hr medical error course and printed out the certificate.

You'll get your license in the mail about a week after they post it on the website. Congratulations on passing.

I just took mine online at www.nurse.com/ce

60033d ·2.0 hrs
Preventing Medical Errors: Florida Requirement

They have the HIV, and Domestic Violence courses too. I pd $34.- for unlimited "State Req'd" courses. You download PDFs for the courses, read over them, and then take the test - no time limit. When you're finished you just save the PDF certificate for your records. It does ask you for a license number after the test - I just typed in "STUDENT" and it took it.

Hope this helps someone!

Congrats on the Pass!

All R.N.'s & L.P.N. must take Medical error during every renewal period in the state of Fl.
