Your clinical skill pack will be issued to you on the first day of your clinical skills class. Don't loose anything out of it.
What it contains are kits for doing various clinical skills. There are various skills that are taught in your clinical skills class such as trach care, Foley catheter insertion, wound care, IV fluids...etc, that require a materials "kit". You are issued two of each kit in your nurse pack...one for practice, one for testing.

This will make more sense to you after your first day in clinical skills.

The truth of the matter is that I attended the pinning ceremony this past Mayas an usher, and out of the starting accelerated option students(which i dont know how many started), only 5 or 6 were at the ceremony. well, i prefer to keep a positive attitude towards life....i don't think that's tempting fate or god's laughter....it's how to survive in a hard world! if i weren't optimistic about my future, then i may as well roll over and die now, right? LOL LOL

anyway, just because there are only 5 or 6 attending some pinning ceremony doesn't mean only 5 or 6 made it.....i know that many do not make it, but i'm quite sure the numbers aren't THAT bad! hahahaha....MDC wouldn't be a very good school if they were that bad. :-)

that still doesn't answer my question, though, which is, when does the AO program that begins this August (wednesday!) end next year?

went to the transisional program but a lot of students couldn't come to ceremony but alot came and enjoyed the long night............

In no way was a saying that you are tempting fate by making plans, all I am saying is that i spoke to 2 of the AO students who confirmed that MANY of them were not graduating on time and had to stay behind. Acyually the majority. And it is not "some ceremony", it is the Nursing Pinning Ceremony and is usually taken pretty seriously. So, I wish you the best of luck, but from someone that has been in the generic option for the last year, has not fail a class yet, and has seen her fellow generic students -as well as AO students- drop like flies, take it from me making concrete plans based upon the exact time of graduation is slightly temping fate. You will learn to live one semester at a time.

And to answer your question, yes you should be finished by August of next year. It is only 3 semesters for you, which would put you at August of next year.

well, school starts tomorrow and i'm nervous and excited!!! first class is fundamentals skills lab, and for some reason, after reading the required assignments and getting my books in order, i'm stuck on as petty of a thing as what to wear. hahahaha....maybe that's just easier to wrap my brain around right now than everything else there is to think about!

i've been working towards this for so long, and had so many obstacles,and many open doors too, that it's hard to believe i'm finally actually starting nursing school!

For those starting tomorrow, just remember you are going into a lab atmosphere. Close toed shoes and a lab coat are a minimum. They also require you to wear long pants. If you are not appropriately dressed...they will kick you out.

One thing is for certain. Nursing school is a little more of a professional atmosphere than your prerequisite classes. Professors notice things like professional attire.

I just checked my degree audit online....let me tell you, seeing the ( X ) Potential Term Graduate box checked is a sweet feeling.

I remember buying navy dockers and button down shirt and wearing every tuesday till clinicals started (transitional program) and then had that great (kidding) uniform top that made you look like ice cream man and white pants, white shoes (shoes have to be nursing appropriate and all white, if sneaks make sure no black nike side thing etc...)
have fun and enjoy, i did and it was worth it
love nursing, work at memorial in broward and still learning everyday!
