How to volunteer for the aftermath of Katrina??

I'm an RN in South Florida and am trying to find out info on how to volunteer my services over in New Orleans or anywhere else in that area??? Not sure where to look or who to contact. I am a Home Health nurse and have plenty of vacation time I can use to leave here and offer my assistance in anyway. Possibly at shelters or anywhere else medical care is needed?? I'm wondering if any nurses from South Florida have organized something and are looking for any volunteers??? I hate this feeling of helplessness and as a single woman with no children, I am in a position where I could leave the area for a couple of weeks unlike so many with families. I would appreciate any info anyone can offer???? My prayers are with all who are affected by Katrina.

Check with your state Nurses Association - In Texas, the TNA is co-ordinating efforts. Maybe your state org is doing the same.

In texas - the URL is http://www.texasnurses.org/RTN_katrina.htm
