how do foreigners apply for nuse training in the us

hi I'm from south wales, great britain. i'm interested in nurse training in florida. I am already qualified as a psychiatric nurse but have done enough general medicine to register in the states. i can see you all talking about pre-reqs. what r they? having qualified 15 years ago and gaining an Advanced Diploma in nursing 5 years ago does anyone think this will enable me to undertake training. also, do any of the hospitals in the state sponsor nurses to train. i have also tried to see if i can undertake some theory with the uni of pheonix on line but i think i will have to ring them because it appeas not.
very confused but determined to emigrate to florida. michelle

I'm certainly not an expert in this department but for starters pre-reqs is short for pre requisites. These are course you must complete before you can enter nursing school. they can vary from school to school but some are pretty standard, such as Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Microbiology, chemistry. etc.

My suggestion to you is to contact some of the various schools in Florida to see what they have to offer. Some schools stream line the education process for people with medical experience. There is also a website, www.flcenterfornursing.org There is alot of information and links here.

I don't live in Florida yet but will as soon as I finish nursing school next year.
I found a hospital, Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville that offers scholarships. www.bmcjax.com . There are alot of opportunities out there, you just have to search for them. I hope this was some help to you.
