Well Buddy there is no such thing as a free lunch. However if you go through Learey Technical Center in Tampa it is like $450. The sweet part is, if you work in a nursing home afterwards, the first one you work at is required to reimburse you for the cost of your training if you request it. So you pay for it in the front and then get it back in the end. Nobody legitimate is going to do it for free. Sorry. www.learey.edu

Re: Free CNA training in FL

Hi I am currently in a CNA program it is $250. They also have job placement that will remburst you for the cost of the class. The name is CNA med prep in tarpon springs florida off of Klosterman rd. The money pays for your books and a set of scrubs.

Hope this helps

Re: Free CNA training in FL

Thank you, Marie! I checked the website, its very nice. And oh, cheaper. One problem is, i live here in St. Petersburg. I dont have a car yet. I cant drive. I am relying on my husband for transportation for now. Just for now. Do you know about tampabaycna? It's closer to us and the website seems very nice. To anyone of you who know about tampabaycna, pls. give me a quick review about the school.

Love you guys. Thank you soooo much for the information.

Have a bless day..Mwahhhhhhhh

Re: Free CNA training in FL

If you go to the FL Board of nursing website you can print out the FLNA Clinical Skills Checklist. It describes all of the skills that you will need to know. From that website you can also apply/register to take the Licensing Exam. You wont need to set foot in a classroom for training and you only pay for the exam. If you know someone who can make sure that you are doing the skills correctly, use them. In NY, the teacher that I had gave private sessions for those that felt that they needed the extra practice for about $150. Ask around to see who knows who and if they're willing to do something similar.

If you PM your email address to me, I can forward the checklist to you.

Hello,
I was looking into taking the CNA exam and I was wondering if you would be kind enough to post the link for the check list. I could not find it on the web page .

Thank you
Nicole

Re: Free CNA training in FL

Maybe I can help. First I have to know if you are trying to get your CNA in order to work in a hospital or a nursing home, or if you just need it for a nursing school requirement.

The reason is that some hospitals and nursing homes allow you to start working as a nurse helper or an equivalent to a NA, but without the certfication, and then you are paid for your work. You take the CNA class and agree to work for them for a certain period of time or else you have to pay them back for the class.

Another way is to go through P-Tech or one of the local vocational centers. They do teach CNA as well as LPN. Here's the link for P-Tech for those of you in St. Pete: http://www.pinellas.k12.fl.us/Workfo...scienceed.html

Now I'll go dig around and see if I can't come up with something for you folks in Pasco. Maybe Pasco-Hernando CC?

Re: Free CNA training in FL

Woohoo! Hit the jackpot on the Florida BON website!

Names of schools, addresses, phone numbers and all. Here's the list:

http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/cna/lst_training.pdf

Here's a copy of the brochure for CNA:

http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/cna/info_Brochure.pdf

Hope that helps. If you need anything else, I'll be happy to help. Just post to this thread, ok?

PS I would HIGHLY recommend that you shop around and get prices because they do vary widely. For instance, a private school like Erwin might be a tad more expensive than P-Tech.
