Florida law and surgery consents

Recently the hospital where I work has removed the surgeon's signature from surgical consent forms. The powers that be stated "JCAHO does not want the surgeons signing this consent." Consents are now signed by pt. and nurse witnessing signature. Consents sent to hospital by MD (completed and with both pt. and MD signature) are being rcopied by RN, signed by pt. and RN. Is this legal? Have any of you heard of this? Scared-please help.
