Re: FCCJ Spring 2008

I would consider 3 children work! Probably more work that what I do at my job!!!

My job said they were going to work with me prior to getting in but now that I am actually in they seem to be a little concerned and have lots of questions that unfortunatly right now I can't answer. I hope they will stick to what they said but I am concerned that it may become an issue. Just keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Yeah this is tough.. I think once you finish your first semester you have the option of being a PCT in a hospital. Does anyone know what the average rate of pay for an RN is in Jax? Also, I thought there would be unlimited OT when we were done, but some of the other posts make it seem like it's impossible to get OT.. Just curious about what we have to look forward to.

Then the lab is gonna bill me seperate for the actual titers (I think thats 375), but the guy at Solantic said the lab will let you make payments. This whole thing is SOOO expensive!

Which Solantic location did you go to? I went to the one on Southside Blvd but the prices seems a little different. I paid $125 for my titer and they said they would send it off to Lab Corp and it would normally take 3 to 4 business days for the results. They didn't mention any other costs. But the staff seemed like they didn't know what they were doing and were more concerned about who was having what for lunch. SO JUST FYI: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE THERE-- WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

YES! Good question. Also - Does anyone know what PCT positions pay?

I will be working as well, although I am doing day shift. I figured I'd rather work and go to school Mon- Fri and have weekends for studying. I am going to see about dropping my hours down from 40 to 32 per week if possible. Even that will be a tough pay cut!

For all of you wondering about Northside Medical Clinic pricing, I called today and was told:
Rubella- $17
Varicella- $30
Heb B- $50
Tuberculosis- $10
tetanus- $18
Drug screen- $26

Hope that is helpful to some. That is cheaper than even my insurance, unfortunately I have already done all but the titers, but I'll be doing those at Northside for sure!

Re: FCCJ Spring 2008

IF I were any of you I'd call NorthSide Medical Clinic NOW! Their prices are MUCH lower! I paid a total of $158 for my physical, ppd, tetanus, and titers.

This is FCCJ pricing... The physical was $35, the Hep B titer is $22, the Varicella titer is $30, the Rubella titer is $17. The vaccines for the Hep B are $50 a piece(3 shots times $50), The Varicella is $75, and the Rubella Vaccine is $65.

Hope this Helps!

PS. I just saw someone else posted the pricing before me haha... as you can see I didn't read all the post and was concerned that everyone was going to pay so much money!

Careful, my friend in the program works at that Solantic, she knows what she's doing (taught me how to set IVs for the 2nd simulation exam).

Just go to Northside Medical, its cheaper and they have a contract with the school. When you get outside of the norms at FCCJ, bad things happen. Also, for those born outside of the country MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR TITER RESULTS. If your titer results are not turned in to the nursing office, you will be exited from the program. Nearly saw it happen.
