Broward Community College Students

Hello,

I am starting the RN program on Monday, 08/20/07. I am wondering if there are any other students here who are attending or have attended. I am interested in some guidance and a study group. I live in Sunrise and go to the Central Campus in Davie.

My email is doobie_117_98@yahoo.com.

thanks.

Re: Broward Community College Students

I graduated from BCC in May. First of all, don't believe the horror stories you hear. I never had a single problem with ANY instructor. Just study...don't expect to get by without reading the material, or by going over it once. The exams are difficult, but if you really study you'll pass. As far as clinical goes, just be prepared and do what they tell you to do.

I personally think BCC prepared me well. Out of 10 people in my class who have taken NCLEX so far, we've all passed.

Thank you so much. I have heard the same from upperclassmen. I am about to take my first exam for Mrs. Smith's class on Friday. I feel pretty much on point right now, but I know I will have to do some extra readings.

Thanks so much. My instructor works at Memorial and she is great. I have really begun to notice that the horror stories were just stories. If I apply myself I will succeed. So far I have been doing just that and feel confident.

We are offered a scholarship from different hospitals once we get into the GI/GU portion of the program. I know that Baptist, Jackson, Memorial, University, a group called HCA, and the North Broward District Hospitals participate in the scholarship program. You can also check an agency called Workforce One to see if they have funding available to help. Good luck.

Re: Broward Community College Students

I completed all of my pre-reqs at Miami Dade. I was on their waiting list for a year before I found out that my program GPA (3.8) was not what they were looking at. They were going by my cumulative GPA (3.14) which was low and would have me on the list for years. I waited for a year before I learned of this REDICULOUS policy and tried Broward. As soon as BCC saw my grades for my science classes they automatically let me into the program. I had to complete the core class (HCP 0130--I think) and 5 certifications before I started the program. I have no clue if there is a list otherwise.

Re: Broward Community College Students

Hi sandycadet,
I graduated from BCC central campus on Aug. 2. Believe me, there were hard times, but it is a great school and program. I agree about the horror stories, they are just stories. Some teachers are harder than others, but in my experience, they all really want you to do well and to be a GREAT nurse. I just took my NCLEX this morning, and I know BCC has a high pass rate. I'll let you know Thursday if I added to their good track record. Best of luck to you, keep studying, you'll make it!!
