Re: Applying to MDC RN Generic Prgm for Fall 08

This really sucks to hear about students with good GPAs getting rejected from MDC as if they didn't do good enough in college. A 3.3 is a good GPA, and it will get most students into University Level Nursing programs!

An Advisor told me that the lowest GPA the nursing program accepted last term was a 3.4 ALL CUM, but they recommend a 3.5 ALL CUM.

I already have my AA in Nursing from MDC, a 3.5 ALL CUM, and a 3.72 CUM. I applied to the RN Generic option at MDC for Fall '08 and I really hope that I get accepted because if not, I'll have to wait a whole year to apply to a different school.

Because of all the Hooplah over this GPA thing (which is drivin students crazy) I applied for the Sonogram program also... so now I have to take 2 more classses to meet the pre-reqs for the Sonogram program: baby physics and a dumb HSC course!

Can I shoot myself now, or should I wait for letter!?!?

I did actually get married to my high school sweetheart. We did't go to school together, he is older, but still.

Becoming a mother is.....wow....har sometimes, and yet so special almost all of the time....when they are not having a tantrum lol.

Wait for the letter...then shoot yourself if you don't get in. Just kidding. I am sure you will get in, and when you do we should team up for study. They say that is the best thing to do. Don't freak out to much... there are a lot of options out there.

Counselor told me the same thing, but a girl with a 3.75 did not get in. Can you believe that? I can't.

Re: Applying to MDC RN Generic Prgm for Fall 08

HI.......I was accepted at MDC for their Nursing Program with a 3.35 gpa the first time i applied.... I know people in my class that were rejected 5 times until they got in with 3.5 and 3.4 gpa. Every semester the lowest gpa required vary, and it's hard to guess whether a 3.5, 3.3 or 3,6 would get you in. I am now in my second semester, and looking forward to move to sem 3 with the rest of my classmates ( we lost 15 already) It is definitely not easy but possible, you just have to give your best and more.
....... Mdc has a great reputation, exellent faculty ,and their Nursing program graduates more Nurses than any other college in the US................

Good luck to those waiting for ""THE LETTER" and i hope you all have the chance to be part of this great institution.

Victoria.

You are so lucky. I hope too to be able to get in. It is horrible to wait around. I hate it so much... I can do nothing but wait and I am about to go insane.

Re: Applying to MDC RN Generic Prgm for Fall 08

I know how you feel....but remember that its possible...it happened to my with a crappy gpa, and 3 missing co-req. It can happend to you, and it will....wait for the first orientation letter and you are pretty much in, the rest is history, AND THEN.....real life begins, sleepless nights, bad days, waking up at4, going to bed at 4, etc. Surviving each semester is the hardest part........ so get ready, work out, read novels, watch movies, and do all you want to do before you start your own movie.........
good luck and get ready to dance.

Victoria

exactly!! it is really unfair.
I was accepted to NOVA southeastern university, manatee community college and broward community college! NOVA for God's sake. I was good enough to get in to a university with a 3.3 and the local community college did not want me!

but watever, I am an RN now, and that is what counts!

Re: Applying to MDC RN Generic Prgm for Fall 08

tiff2003,

if I were you I would just wait for the letter; you just might be one of the chosen ones! so never loose hope!

In my experience with MDC, I kept applying until I got 5 rejection letters... I guess I never lost hope with MDC, and hoped that after re-admitting my application several times perhaps they would see that I wanted to be in the program.... but never did I get that chance.
it makes me sad to think about it.

wow victoria, you were very lucky! I had a 3.35 to be exact, and was rejected from dade 5x's. was accepted to NSU, manatee and BCC, and ended up finishing at BCC.
at BCC I felt very lucky, but was always envious of MDC program- you guys get to use calculators!!

Re: Applying to MDC RN Generic Prgm for Fall 08

I got in to part time generic at MDC with a 3.7 back in June 2006. When I got accepted, Letters did not go out until end of may or geginning june. with orientation in July. I unfortunately had a horrible experience at MDC and ended up withdrawing from the program and am currently getting my LPN at Mcfatter. I only went to MDC because of I needed a part time program as I work full time. I had the same teacher for two classes who was absolutely horrible. He would get to class and then have a break 15 minutes into class so he could go get coffee off campus and then would return and teach us nothing. In addition, we were two weeks late starting Fundamentals class due to Hurricane that year as school was canceled during that time. When we did finally meet for fundamentals theory we lost two teachers the first three weeks yet we were bound by syllabus for which we never got along with a twenty chapter midterm eventhough we had no teacher nor lectures . Needless to say, I do not have a favoralbe opinion of MDC. THis was my experience and I by no means want to force my opinion on you. Hopefully you will not have same experience as I did.
