Hey, I have a friend going there and she seems to be happy....but the cost is ridiculous. and it is just an LPN school to start off. for 14k, you could get your bachelors from USF, your associates/bachelors from SPC or from erwin tech or ptec.

Thats true, the reason iam attending is cause all the other schools have lottery's and waitinglist, iam doing their LPN and then RN program all together 22 months.
yep 14k is alot, but Keiser Career College charges 19k for their lpn program.
Thanks for your response.

Not really. I applied at PTEC last fall and got in within a week. It's all a matter of WHEN YOU apply. Additionally, their program is maybe 3k total. Do you want to pay the extra 11k instead of waiting? Everyone is different, you have to do what is good for you. The only thing I will tell you is if you plan on moving past RN (as-rn) I'm not so sure that Galens credits transfer. Are they "regionally accredited" is my question. I don't think they were when I looked at them in my moments of desperation. Waiting 6 mos paid off for me, but again, you have to do what is good for you. Welcome to nursing.

I've attended both State(public)colleges and Private college, I preferred the private, but make sure you consider the transfer issue, it was the only drawback I encountered....besides the cost....but the benefits to me were worth the difference.

I'll be attending Galen August 12 for evening classes, I'm excited, and I chose Galen because of the same, no waiting lists....

I had a friend do their LPN to RN program and is happily working as an RN now. He said it was a tough, demanding, but good experience. Basically this is what you're going to hear about any good nursing school.

Hi, I am planning on attending Galen this Nov. in their LPN program. I know they are very expensive but I am tired of the wait lists that the tech schools have. Do you know if Galen is regionally accredited? I am hoping to go on to eventually get my BSN and I want my classes to transfer. Let me know if you know if you know anything about Galen being regionally accredited? Best of luck!

I will be graduating from the LPN program at Galen in 6 wks. While attending clinicals, staff nurses have great things to say about Galen students, and just ok things to say about Ptec students.
I also work part time on the weekends and a former Ptec graduate and I compare our classes/knowledge and her comments to me were "You have experienced way more than I have and it seems you got a way better education than I did". I hope so for all the money spent.
As far as their accreditation, Galen mgmt says some time next year. They have other schools within the US and are trying to get the programs standardized which is difficult with different state practice acts. They say they are close.
The great thing about their bridge program is they do not require the prerequisites that the other schools bridge programs require. This makes it extremely excelerated. Expensive, but fast.
