Are hospitals outside of Wilmington competitive?

I now have about two years experience at a good Baltimore area hospital (GBMC). I'm thinking about moving to Delaware, but I want to continue at a larger sophisticated hospital for a few more years to build up my experience.

I know Christiana hospital, DuPont, Wilmington would be good in that respect... but what about the hospitals in Kent or Sussex county? Are they too small to meet my needs? Kent General, Beebe, Milford, Nanticoke... maybe there are others. (Are there any in Salisbury MD or accessible locations like that that may also be options?)

Re: Are hospitals outside of Wilmington competitive?

hi there, I'm moving to DE as well but to the beachside, I used to work at GBMC as a nursing student. Did you go to Towson by any chance?
I also have two year experience as RN now...
wish someone would reply to my post

Re: Are hospitals outside of Wilmington competitive?

OP,You will find a huge difference in the hospitals in Kent and Sussex county compared to Wilmington and Baltimore, especially in the salaries. They are much smaller hospitals, and many people that live in those counties prefer to be transferred to Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia etc. for major health issues.

There is also Atlantic General and PRMC, both in MD. A lot of people from Southern DE work there.

If I had to chose a hospital in this area, it would be PRMC (Salisbury).
Just my opinion. Good luck.

That's what I expected, unfortunately. I don't know anything about PRMC. I guess I'll look into it. I assume it is also small and maybe not quite the place to gain experience.

Vania, no I didn't go to Towson. I used to live in Montgomery county before I started at gbmc.

Does Beebe have a good reputation and does anyone know if they use travelers?

Yes, Beebe uses travelers. Quite a bit lately d/t staffing shortages. I cannot speak to whether or not it has a good reputation, seeing as I work there. Lol, I like it, but I cannot compare it to other hospitals because it is the only one I've worked at. I can say that it is small, but the people are generally nice.
