Smile Hello, newbie here

Hello,

I just recently moved to DE, and so far I really like it. I will be going to del tech in the fall as a pre-nursing student. ( Owens Campus ) I was wondering if anyone else is going there as well. If so what can I expect as far as the waiting list? I was told that it could be a while before I can start clinicals. I have some pretech classes to take, so I thought I would get a lot of classes knocked out while i am waiting to get in. any input or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the board. I'm not in Delaware...but I do have advice. Continue to do as you have planned, but I would also apply to other nursing schools in the meantime...if possible. At least you would have several irons-in-the-fire that may pay off before another. Also, keep your grades up-up-up...the competition seems to be fierce when getting into a program. (I went to nursing school in the 80's & basically just walked right in...doesn't seem to be that way anymore.) Best of luck... keep us posted.

Delaware tech student, too

Hi, my name is Catherine and I also go to del tech, except I go to the dover(terry) campus. I took my NLN in January of 2004 and I applied to the nursing board for a clinical seat in Feb 04, and I start my clinicals in Jan 05. So it is not too bad of a wait in dover, I heard that Owens has a longer wait. But I'm not sure how long. It's nice to talk to other student swho are in my school, going for the same thing I'm going for. What classes are you taking now?

Catherine

Hi Catherine

I am taking math 012 because it has been a while since I have taken math, and the rest of the classes I am taking are basically the prereqs I have to have in order to start clinics. I will actually be moving to Dover in a few months, so in the fall of 05 I may transfer to the terry campus if I dont have to start all over on the waiting list. If thats the case I will stay at the owens campus. When do they put you on the list there? I am sure its after youtake the NLN and pass all of the prereqs.
