Windham Hospital Hourly Rate for RN

Hey guys,
I have a friend who's an LPN at Windham Hospital and she says the starting rate for LPNS at Windham Hospital is 16 to 17 dollars an hour.

Does anyone know what the starting rate for an entry level RN is at Windham hospital? Im assuming its 33/hr for 7-3 shift... but that sounds a bit too high..

Re: Windham Hospital Hourly Rate for RN

why do you assume it's 33/hr?
i don't know what that hospital is offering but most hospitals are starting new grads at around $25-27/hr base.

Re: Windham Hospital Hourly Rate for RN

Ha ha, Ok well that makes more sense then. So you're asking here cause you think she's wrong? My next step would be to apply and schedule an interview so I could ask them myself. And shadow a nurse there to get a feel for the place. But I see that you are a student, a new nursing student? Welcome to allnurses.com, it's a great community for nursing! (good luck trying to find the time to come and read the threads while you're in school!) I just graduated (went to school in MA though) so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Once again, welcome.

Re: Windham Hospital Hourly Rate for RN

Hi :-)

I worked for Windham in non-nursing roles (security, patient care tech) before I graduated from UConn and the nursing pay isn't that good. I think starting rate is around $26 an hour. If you are "per diem", I think it's $31 but that is no benefits.

I am biased though. I like larger hospitals. I think they have more to offer. More staff, more technology, more research, higher pay, better benefits, etc.

First of all , I see that you are a new grad and Congratulations for your success!!
Secondly, thank you for replying to my thread. So where do you work now, and what hospital do you recommend has a high pay for the morning shift? And what is the pay?

Re: Windham Hospital Hourly Rate for RN

You have asked a lot of loaded questions! That's good, I like that. :-)

What specialty are you interested in? Labor and Delivery? ICU? Psych? Or do you want a foundation in Med Surg? My answer would depend on your answer. And, by "morning shift" do you mean midnight to 8 am (or 11 to 7) or day shift, 7 am to 3 pm?

I indirectly work for a hospital. I work for Correctional Managed Health Care which is a branch of the UConn Health Center.

Also, be mindful that there is more to think about than money. Benefits. Retirement. Work environment. It's all about where your priorities are.

Feel free to chat on here or send me a message!!

Re: Windham Hospital Hourly Rate for RN

All the information you will provide me will help me to decide where i should work. (Thats obviously when i graduate, wish me luck on that) My first priority is pay and second is the environment setting (which includes nurse patient ratios, staff, and so forth)

Yes you are right, i do want to develop a foundation on the Med Surg floor and sharpen my clinical skills before i go into any other deparments, hence the shift that im talking about is the 7-3 shift and what the pay is for that shift... a friend of mine had told me Windham Hospital pays well and thats why i was interested in the hospital..
