hi,
im actually an RN from MA, but plan on moving to stamford... im looking at stamford, greenwich and norwalk hospital? wondering how the pay is there... and if its worth it to make the commute to NYC for more$$? i know NY taxes more and the commute would be about an hr. and 300 dollars a month for commuting... does anyone know if there would be a huge diff in salary bt southern cT and NYC? im just trying to make the best financial decision at this point...

You may make more money commuting to NYC, but think about how much more you'll pay in gas, the commute time, wear and tear on your vehicle. Add to that you will be paying income tax to both NY AND CT! Probably won't make a whole lot more (if the NYC places pay more) when you subtract all the things I mentioned.

The hour commute is probably without traffic (if you are driving in). since a lot of people in stamford area commute to NY, you will be going with the traffic both ways, so your commute time will be much longer than 1 hr.

I don't know what the price of living is in MA, but NY and CT are very comparable, so although you might make more $$, you'll also be paying more for everything..from food, to gas, to insurance, to housing, to income taxes etc.
