Did you apply for pre nursing, or was the application for entry into the nursing program? I am taking my placement test on 4/4 and am signed up for the pre nursing beginning this summer. I also am waiting to see if I get into the LPN program in Norwich....either way, I have a backup this way. Either way, best of luck to you!

I am applying for entry into the nursing program......I am taking my last two co-requisite classes this semester. I hope to start the program in Sept. Thanks for your reply and best of luck to you also!

Hi, I'm currently in the TRCC nursing program, it's a great program but it's really difficult. The only advise I would give is go into it understanding that you have to just about give-up your life outside of school for the next 2 years. Good luck Rob

Thanks for your reply....are you in your second or fourth semester? Could you give me an idea of a typical day/week?....I realize it's a heavy load, I'm just looking for a little more info (reality check maybe!?!?!)Thanks, Diana

Well Diana let me put it to you this way. I told some of my fellow students (2nd semester) about this cool web site allnurses.com and their general reply was that don't have any time to go playing on web sites. There is two lectures a week one lecture/lab and 1st semester 1 clinical a week 2nd semester has two. There are weekly independent learning modules as well as a number of journals to due. For every hr of lecture plan on 3hr of home study there is a weeky clinical data form to due that is about 14 pages of info and takes anywhere from 4-14 hrs to complete you need to research your your clincal assignment the night before clinical...................and so on. I'd like to tell you more but I have study for a test, the bottom line is it's a commitment and it's hard but all good things in life require a commitment and hard work. Rob

Helloooo ddett,

Three Rivers has a great program. Be prepared to work hard... It can be frustrating and a bit overwhelming at first, but as the weeks pass you will find yourself just doin' it, as opposed to wondering HOW you will do it.

You can expect your week to be just as Rob said it would be. The upside is, you'll be well prepared for your second year.

In your second year, you'll not be going to the hospital the night before a clinical to get your pt info. You will be getting all that good stuff in report, the morning of your clinical.

The careplans can be long, and are a lot of work. They are also invaluable tools in that they help you hone your assessment skills, and help you learn a way of looking at the bigger picture when planning your pt care. And save 'em all....you'll use those med pages over and over. Think of it as building your own little data base.


Some advice ... take it as it comes, one bite at a time. Try your hardest not to fall behind, 'cause stuff'll snowball on ya... Keep your eyes forward and no matter what anyone throws at you, meet it with a "bring it on" attitude. Enjoy the challenge...time will fly!
