Very hard to get into Lpn programs in Ct. Only have admission tests a few times a year to get into the vocational schools then if you do pass usually the waiting lists about 2 years! By then you might have to take test over. You can go to new england technical school no waiting list but tuition now about $23,000 thousand!! When I went 24 years ago technical school it was free!! Even they have about $6,000 thousand tuition.

Re: LPN programs in Connecticut

HI there! The first time I applied to the state program I got in. It just so happened that when I applied there was a class starting soon. It runs 18 months, so when I applied I didn't have much time to wait to test and get in. The out going class was going to be graduating soon.
The state program basically rests its admission on test scores. There generally is no wait to get in. I've never heard of a two year wait. You either get in or you don't. Better luck the nxt year, and hope you get better scores as well. I took the admission test twice. My scores were good the first time, but I knew I could do better, so I took them again and I did. That's just the way the program works. They don't have a waiting period. you either score well, or you don't. They take the people who score the highest. However, that also has to do with how many people test, and test well. They take the highest scoring people, and then they interview them. They say that the interview is a big part of it, but really it's not. It's how you score on the test. Even if you fon't score that well, you can get in, but you better be able to maintain grades in class and function well in clinicals or you're out of the program.
We lost a few people from my class. Not all of them failed out, some dropped the program for personal reasons. However, it was hard and was a definate struggle for some of us.
You can go through NETI if you want, but you'll be paying back school loans for a few years to come. Yes, the state pragram has gone up to just over $5,000 dollars this year, but compared to $20,000+ I think it is worth it. Not to mention that for the NETI course you can only get financial aid for up to $5,000. The rest you have to get loans for, or pay yourself. Big difference. Anyway, good luck. The state of Connecticut needs good nurses. Hope you get the chance to join us!!! I've found it to be very rewarding.:hatparty:

Hi,
I go to NETI evening...very intense...I'm married w/ 2 older kids & it's really hard & time consuming...@ first you don't thuink it's going to end but I'm done in july & it goes pretty quick because you are soooooo busy all the time. I don't work either & it's really time consuming...not much time for any fun or the stuff your used to. Also, you need to know your algebra or you can't do drug calc. & thats a requirement.Lots of $$$ to about $25,000 now & they may increase it to 4 nights /week now due to all the info they have to cram in such a shorttime. Hope this helps, all my classmates feel the same as me so I'm just trying to be really honest. I knew when I started that it was going to rob my whole life but, it's worse than that ....
