Hartford Hospital or St. Francis??

Hello,

Can someone who is familiar w/Hartford and St. Francis Hospital tell me which is the better choice to have Ankle surgery at? I may opt to be admitted for the 23 hr. observation vs. Ambulatory Surgery because of the posssible severity of my ankle condition once it is opened. I don't do well w/pain control that is why I may opt for the 23 hr. stay instead of just going home 5 hrs. after the surgery. My surgeon also operates at the Orthopaedic Associates of Hartford's Surgical Ctr (I'm not sure of the exact name but I think it is in Rocky Hill) This is a question about which Hospital is the better choice for Orthopaedics. I've heard some negative things about Hartford Hospital but I really don't know much about either one. Please, any current RN's out there who work in either hospital possibly on the Ortho Unit would be the best resource for me. Thank you.

Re: Hartford Hospital or St. Francis??

I am not a RN yet, but will be one this coming May...
I have my clinical rotation this semester at Hartford hospital (Med/Surg) and I am currently working as a CNA per diem at St. Francis hospital (Med/Surg) for almost a year.
Personally, I would choose Hartford hospital as a patient... Just don't ask... I have a long list of reasons...
