Darn Chemistry Pre-req's

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to try to get in to an ADN program here in CT, but I have to take chemistry as a pre-req which I DREAD. I'm not that good at Math and I'd do just about anything to avoid chemistry if it were possible. Anyway, does anyone know of a chemistry course in CT that would qualify as a pre-req for ADN programs, but isn't so difficult that you need a chemical engineering degree to understand it?

Thanks in advance!

Renee

Renee, Chemistry is a tuff class no matter where you take it! I would suggest taking this course by itself. You will have to spend alot of time studying but you can do it!Good luck!

Re: Darn Chemistry Pre-req's

Yikes, I'm not going to sugar coat it but chemistry is difficult, no matter where you take it. I took it at NCC and didn't think I would make it through.I too dreaded it and struggled but ended up with a B. The good thing is the professor knew that many of us were taking it as a pre-req for the nursing program and really went out of his way to help us out and get those good grades. NCC also has a great tutoring center available. So don't worry so much about where you take it but look at the other resources available. P.S.-I took it along with 2 other pre reqs and still did ok while working a full time job and after taking a 10 year hiatus from school so if I can do it, anyone can!!

Re: Darn Chemistry Pre-req's

I feel your pain on the Chemistry. I ended up taking a high-school version of it at my CC...that satisfied by ADN requirement. I also found a BSN program that did not require it if you already have your ADN...so it looks like I won't have to take anymore.

You have to dig deep...but I didn't find any that didn't require at least the high-school level. I paid a private tutor, struggled the entire way, but got through it.

Re: Darn Chemistry Pre-req's

take it at NCC. I think that Prof. Racine or Hall are your best bets. good luck, it is really not that bad if you work at it. best of luck.
