Ct license reinstated

Hope someone can help me. I had a Ct license since 1985 which I always renewed. My husband passed away in 1994 and I have stayed home with my children. Last year I apparently mistook the renewal form for the actual license and filed it away as I usually do. This year I was offered a per diem job and that is when the nightmare began. I realized what I had done, but it was too late my Ct license was not considered valid. My original license is from Louisiana where I had attended nursing school. I spoke to Ct Board of Nursing and they said that I have to retake the boards after completing a RN Refresher course, which I am currently doing. I am so worried about the retaking the boards. Another student in this course has said that I probably could reinstate my Louisiana license and then reapply to Ct by endorsement. La said there were just a few things I needed to do and it can be reinstated. No test, "Once a nurse, always a nurse" in Louisiana. Since my Ct license lapsed, does anyone think that I can renew my La license and reapply to Ct without retaking the board? Thank you for any advice
