Re: Conn Nurses Meet N Greet

Hi everyone,
I'm a Med / Surg Nurse in New Haven. Looking to move into a non floor position but not sure what. Been exploring all kinds of nursing but haven't found the right fit yet. I too would love to meet with a bunch of other nurses and find out what they do so I could get the heck out a dodge....

All the best......

Did you ever think of Cardiac Cath Lab? Very challenging and a whole new world of procedures and equipment. Patient interaction is mostly limited to the history interview, interaction and education to try to calm them during the nervous pre-conscious sedation part and after the cath, wrapping things up and providing education for immediate post cath. care. It can be more involved - acute MI frightened out of their wits or a surprise left main going directly to surgery - lots of support needed and it really makes you feel that you make a difference to the patients. RN's in our dept. provide the conscious sedation - with MD orders. The education to work in the department in very challenging. I am glad I work in a interventional lab with the security of open heart surgical back-up. It has taken me a while to feel comfortable working there and remember there will be on-call hours. I never feel it is the same type of patient and procedure over and over .... I learn something new everyday I work. Good Luck!

Re: Conn Nurses Meet N Greet

Hi all,

I will be starting my first job in a LTC/rehab facility as a LPN in Hamden. I am excited and nervous all in one. I too will continue to explore different avenues in nursing, and continue to learn as much as I can.

Re: Conn Nurses Meet N Greet

Hi, I'm a registered nurse that has been home, raising my kids for the past 16 years. Yikes!!! I do want to return to work, but must take a refresher course first. Is anyone in a similar situation? My "dream" is to work in a fertility clinic...Uconn perhaps...or on a post partum unit. Thankfully my license is current!!! Any advise?
