Question for Pikes Peak CC students

Hey All,
I am about to move to Colo.. I should be starting nursing school in Aug. at Pikes Peak Community College but not sure.. My husband is in the Army and coming home in mid Aug then moving out there in Sept. I can go out before him I think but we are having a baby in April so not sure on what to do? How are classes set up? For Fundamentals class how many days and hours do you go to clinincals? I have taken all my pre-req and have gotten mostly A and couple B.. I have just taken Patho and gotten a B... I am going to take Math for Clinical this summer at a local community college here... Anyone have any insight or thoughts for me? Thank you
Chrissy

Re: Question for Pikes Peak CC students

Who is going to watch your baby while you are in class? FYI if you are going to need to find a child care provider - doing so for an infant here in the great state of CO can prove to be difficult d/t very stringent state regulations put on the daycare centers.....they have to have very low provider to infant ratios. This severely limits the number of children under the age of 2 that they can take and then also it is very expensive. Denver 9news actually did a story about this issue a couple months ago.

Another problem is that nursing school clinicals can be at very unconventional hours, on weekends, eves, early mornings ect and most childcare people only want to work 'bankers hours.'

I personally had a hard time - and then a very bad experience - getting a babysitter/daycare for my infant when I went back to work. I hope you have better luck.
