Wildchipmunk....the information you stated is absolutely correct. I only wish that I had known more about the school before I started at Platt. I asked all the important questions and weighed the pros and cons that I learned about the program. I then made my decision.

I attended Platt for a short period of time. I thought I could continue and "give it a chance," knowing that there were some issues with the program. I feel that some of the information that was presented at my info session was not necessarily accurate. I finally had to decide....stay or leave the program. I opted to leave and was not the first in my class to leave, nor the last.

My former classmates have continued and I wish them the best. They will be great nurses someday, it is just a shame that there might be problems with their credits being accepted by other institutions. I am now in a community college program and absolutely love it. I have such a different feeling about nursing school after attending Platt and moving onto another program.

Perhaps Platt will get their accrediation and eventually the credits will be transferrable. Until then, I wish the Platt students all the best.

Oh,I really wish them all the best, too. I feel really bad about the whole situation. I hesitated to post what I did, but your response confirmed I did the right thing. My goal was to save someone whose long-term goals were similar to mine the headache somewhere down the line.

I truly hope the students currently at Platt have a fantastic education and career.

And you too, study2bnurse! I'm sorry you had the experience you did but it will just make you appreciate nursing school all the more.

Yes, I am at Regis now and will begin clinicals in the Fall.

Congratulations on attending Regis University. It is an excellent school with an excellent reputation.

I'm sure that Regis will provide you with the knowledge and skills that will allow you to be a very successful nurse!

Also, do you happen to know how their first class to take NCLEX did (they would've been eligible to take it in March). Just wondering!

I respectfully disagree with "plattsucks" post. I am a current student and have had a great experience at this school. From respectful faculty, to high academic standards and an iron-clad policy of not discussing the academic affairs of other students, my experience has been the diametric opposite of this contributer.

Platt's first class of BSN graduates (class of May 2008) began taking the NCLEX-RN last week. I've heard one result so far, which was a pass.

I'm proud to represent my school and I strongly encourage anyone interested in a BSN to attend an information session and decide for yourself if Platt is for you. I'd be happy to discuss my experience at Platt with anyone interested in attending.

Let's just say...save your $$$ and RUN!!!

I was in the nursing program and this was by far the worst school I have ever attended. The school was just unfair and when students tried to complain to the Dean she did nothing about it (perhaps because rumors wer ethat she was related to one of th teachers.) The school is private so they make up new rules as they go along making it unfair.
I mean come on now....you would think that starting a new program like this which isnt cheap (60G's) you would think they know when the start date is and when the graduating date is...well NO...while i was in the program..they told us that they calculated the graduating date wrong and that we now have to go 1 extra month...not only that..they were thinkng about extendidng the program even more for all classes....as if 34 months isnt already alot. To top it all....the director of the program who started the whole program couldnt even stick with the school till atleast the first class graduated...now dont you think that is simply worng and not right?

Just curious, are you still in the program? I left the program after I had started...hopefully they'll work things out and graduate some good nurses. For me, it wasn't worth it. I'm in agreement with you,

Here is my personal issue with Platt: I DID ask questions of them at the information session in regards to their BSN graduates being able to get into Master's programs. The man told us yes. I called CU Health Sciences and Regis and they both told me that as Platt's accreditation (and Concorde's as well) is for a career college, NO, that the grad students must be from regionally accredited institutes of higher learning, not career vocational schools.

And this might appeal to many who don't care as to whether or not they go to grad school. I am not in this number and didn't appreciate being lied to, baldfaced. Hopefully Platt can get its act together so that their current students are able to continue on and finish. I feel so very strongly for their students.
