Newbie here!/School questions!

I am joining the billions of people on the waitings lists here soon! One, maybe two more semesters of the prereqs to get on the waiting lists.
Right now I am at ACC for my prereqs. Personally, I have no issues with the school at all. So far I feel like my education has been of quality and value. The wait list there is 3 years. That just seems rediculous. BUT, I understand the shortage of teachers, ect.... The program is about $15k.

I interviewed at Concorde, I didn't leave with a positive feeling, it's very far from me and it's quite costly. I also spoke with someone from HR at Health One, and she highly advised against the school. Of course, she didn't elaborate. I am more than sure many people are getting a good educatoin there. I just don't think it was for me.

All the CC's have waiting lists. I got that much.

BUT- I am still researching Denver School of Nursing. I understand they are not accredited. I would love to speak with a student(s) that are currently attending. Any word on when they expect to be accredited? I have heard positive things about them, and not so positive. Of course, I imagine that goes for anywhere!

Anyone have any other resources for school aside from the Community College System?

Email me as well if you are a DSON student or graduate! I'd love to chat!

Re: Newbie here!/School questions!

My only problem with the DSON is that it would cost $34,000 for an RN AAS as opposed to $15,000 in the Community Colleges.

Re: Newbie here!/School questions!

For me, the *difference* could be paid with half a years salary as an RN, that I'll have 4 years prior at DSON, than at the CC level- and, if you do the math and take the low end of nursing salaries, it will amount to about $100k (or quite a bit more really even if you make $40k for the first 4 years that alone is $160k over the course of a your career), if I retire at the same age regardless of where I go to school.

I am one semester away from the waiting list at the CC's. OR, one semester away from being able to start the classes at DSON. Which, I'd actually start before I could get on the waiting list! I Actually thought I had an additional semester to go...

But, figuring out HOW to pay for DSON is the tricky part.
