Good places to live in downtown

What are some good apartments that one would recommend that are near to DH?? or any of the other downtown hospitals for that matter?

Re: Good places to live in downtown

Personally, I would never live downtown. My father works at Denver Health and hates the area and doesn't know of any part of town near there to be safe. So he lives in Parker. So do I. Sorry I am not more help, maybe others on here know nice areas/apartments around there.

A lot of nurses at P/SL lived in uptown village:

Kind of a swinging singles place (at least it was 5 years ago).

The Platte valley has some nice apartments if you like being in the middle of things.
Capitol hill is "interesting" and there are some older apartments there. Farther out AMLI at Lowry is new and there are some nice apartments at Stapleton.

The area around DG and the other hospitals is a little dodgier. Not truly unsafe like some other big cities but you definitely have to keep your wits about you.

I'll definetly keep that in mind. I always knew that living in downtown poses a risk but I just was not aware of how much of a risk. Granted one can only get a certain perspetive of the living condition by looking at Google Earth, LoL!!

Thanks for the reply guys!!

I lived in Denver most of my life and it is generally much safer than many similar size cities. There are sketchy parts but none of the "police only enter in large groups" areas. After being in Atlanta for three months have already had someone try to sell me crack while in a marked EMS vehicle. Just like any large city keep alert and don't do stupid things and you will be fine. The suburbs are not necessarily any safer, they just appear safer.

Re: Good places to live in downtown

So if I choose to live in Cap Hill; would that be a mistake??? It "seems" so close to everything and you can't beat the cost of rent, Wow! I would be saving money like crazy!!!

Re: Good places to live in downtown

Cap Hill is where everyone lives in their 20's. Sloans Lake / Highlands (not Highlands Ranch) is a bit more age appropriate and quieter for those of us closer to 30. Wash Park is awesome and one of the most expensive places to live in Denver, but on occasion you can find good rental prices.
It really depends on what you are used to. I personally like the Highlands, area more than Cap Hill. But I wouldnt be opposed to living there again.
Glendale isnt a lovely area but there is plenty to rent and its near Cherry Creek Mall.
The Uptown area is very nice but the rental prices reflect that.
