Florida Grad to work in Colo Springs

Of course I'm new to all this so please bare with me
I would like to move out to the Springs early next year after my AS in Nursing is complete. However, I do not know whether to take the NCLEX here in Florida or try to transfer to Colorado first and then take my state exam there.

I know that Florida is not recognized under Colorado's reciprocity nor is it under the Nurses Licensure Compact of 21 or so states. So my question is this:

If I complete my nursing program in florida and am not yet licenced to practice as a nurse, what would be the best way to get my license to live and practice nursing in Colorado? Any help would greatly be appriciated, I am so....flying blind with all this bureaucracy, LoL!!

Thankx,
Julio-(Lord willing, future nurse!)

Re: Florida Grad to work in Colo Springs

Greetings!

I am looking at relocating to CO as well. Haven't made up my mind Boulder or Springs? I just received my license here in CA and submitted my application to the Colorado Nursing Board a couple of weeks ago. Go on to their website and print out the application. You also have to send a verification form plus fee to the Florida Nursing Board once your license has been issued.

It would be easier if you just took the boards in Florida and then submitted an application to the CO boards.

Hope this helps...

If it were me and I knew for a fact that I was moving to CO no matter what, I would print out the CO application from their website and take the exam (you can take it anywhere) and get the CO license from the get go. Just save you time and effort. Call the CO BON and speak to someone there. I called them once and found them to be very responsive to my questions. Good luck. ERR! Going from sun to snow:Snow:

Re: Florida Grad to work in Colo Springs

No Sir!! I'm Denver bound

I've lived here in Orlando for 26 years and I psychologially ready for a big change. I already went ahead and submited my app to the CO Board and Pearson-Vue. Paid my fees and "all that jazz"

You wouldn't happen to have any idea as to how long the paper work takes, would you???
