Denver School of Nursing-to drive or not?

Ok, So after realizing my wonderful school PPCC has now almost a 3 year wait list, I have started exploring other options...I have heard wonderful things about Denver School of Nursing, the only downfall it seems is the amount of money. I have an appointment to go check out the school, but I am very very excited. I do live in the springs, and my question really is have any students out there had to drive from the Springs to DSN every day? Is it humanly possibly or will I regret it forever and just curl up in a ball by the time it is over. I do live in the north side of the springs and I mapquested it and the drive is about an hour and 5 minutes..so not too horrible. Any opinions, is it worth it? Is it really worth the money , any scholorships anywhere? I want to make sure for that amount of money I get a quality education and I won't regret my decision to commute to school, any opinions or advice would so appreciated!

Re: Denver School of Nursing-to drive or not?

how did you find out the wait list is now 3 years? i was told 2, and maybe less since they now have spring starts.

i think it would suck to drive that far, just think of the gas you'll spend! But then again you would be in faster. i'm interested to read if anyone does do this. maybe it wouldn't be so bad. i'm just thinking of what you'll pay in gas!! i hate going to ppcc since i'm on the east side and it takes me 30 minutes... have to fill the tank at least once a week..

Re: Denver School of Nursing-to drive or not?

I was told that they are no longer doing spring rotations at PPCC because they have lost too many professors, which has bumped the list up to 3 years. I was talking to a gal who was ON the list for 3 years and is just now starting in the fall!!! Another gal I know , who is a military wife was on the list for 2 years...it's getting complicated and there is alot of...questionable things in my mind. DSN doesn't have a wait list but that is only because (according to the gal I talked to) they do not recieve federal funding, they cannot give scholorships, or ANY financial aid you either pay cash, or take out a loan through sallie mae (or a personal loan). The amount of money for most people is too much to put on the line (which is where my turmoil is coming into play). If anyone has any imput on driving that would be great..or ALSO...I was curious about the lightrail..does it stop by the school, does anyone do that?

Re: Denver School of Nursing-to drive or not?

I am not living in CO at this time but i will be starting DSN in the fall and have decided to ditch the car. The school is in LODO so you could walk from a light rail station. About driving, i am orig from highlands ranch/loan tree area and i used to drive to Colorado Blvd exit on 1-25 for work (which isn't really that far into Denver) and on mapquest it says 15min. During rush hour time forget that, it would take me 45 to over an hr to get home. Traffic in Denver was bad when i lived there about 3yrs ago so i can only assume that its even worse now. But, if you drove into the nearest light rail station it might be better on time and gas for you. And not sure where you live in CO springs but i remember it being about 1 1/2 hrs from my house and i live 15-25min south of denver.
