I was wondering if anyone has heard about Denver school of nursing BSN program. I start in July and I am soooo excited, just wondering if anyone else is planning on going to school there or anyone going to school there now.

I started in January of this year. It seems to be a really good school. All of my teachers are really top notch and take the time to chat about any concerns.

I will say to you though that it is really time consuming, challenging and a bit stressful. But I would be disappointed if it wasn't.

I find out in March, if I will be accepted for the October start date. Craig, you mentioned that it was time consuming, etc. Would you mind elaborating on those statements?

I will be commuting from the Loveland area and I am curious about the class schedule and if any of the classes are, or will be, offered on-line.

Time consuming. Classes Monday to Friday. Monday, Thursday and Friday are all day long. Tuesday and Wednesday are only half day labs. I have lab in the afternoon with half of the class and the other half has class in the morning.

There are no classes online. Attendence is required for all class. It ends up being about 19cr hours. There is one person in class who took pathophysiology before attending DSoN and she does not have to take it now. I think this would save alot of time.

I study every night, or do a project every night related to school. In all honesty though, I probably am not the most effective studier. I think most people would agree in my class that studying takes most of our free time. I dont mind the work though. Everything I learn now will help me later.

Some people work and go to school. Some people have small children. They seem to make it work.

I think I am going to try and take Pathophysiology online while I am waiting to hear whether I made it in for October.

Have you heard what the subsequent semesters are like, as far as how many days required at school and difficulty? Do you get any breaks during the day between classes?

Just curious, where do you commute from?

Next quarter I will have three days of classess and two clinical days. The clinicals wont be every week, but a total of 10 days totalling 120hrs. I think. I dont think that I will be totally clear on that until I actually do it.

We have breaks between classes, which is lunch for about 1hr20min. The instructors also give us about ten minutes every hour to stretch and P etc...

I am commuting from south Denver. Lone Tree area. I take the light rail every day. It takes about 40min. The light rail is awsome. I can sit and study/flashcards and glance at the poor souls driving. There is 0 stress on the light rail. Hopefully the rail will go north soon.

I am so excited about starting in July, I just hope the next two months go by fast because these last 3 pre-reqs are stressing me out. Not because they are too hard but because these classes needed to be passed by ME inorder to be able to go to nursing school.

Anyway, speaking of doing classes. I took 2 Health Care Management classes at metro and I think one of those classes goes towards one of the classes at DSON which would be great because that would be one less class to have to worry about. I wish I would have known about the Patho class because I probably would have done it ahead of time as well.

Anyway, are things going smoothly for you at DSON does it seem they know what they are doing? I think any information is good info because it gives us a little peak in to what to expect.

Hi..I know this thread was a few months ago, but does anyone go to the Denver school of nursing now?? I heard they sold and I am supposed to attend next year! !! Also I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who graduated ?? Could they get a job easily??

Hi -

I just graduated from the ADN program at DSON on June 22nd; took my boards this past Wednesday and passed (yea!). As far as I have heard, everyone in my class except one has passed, and most people stopped at 75 questions, which is the minimum. Everyone I graduated with had jobs lined up before we graduated, primarily at the places where we had our final capstone. I know several people who got jobs at Denver Health, and a few at Littleton Adventist, one at St. Anthony's Central. I don't know of anyone who had any difficulty finding a good position.

The program was very intense, it seems now like it really ruled my life for two years. But I did get a good education there, and made some lifelong friends too. Good luck!

THank you so much !! I am very nervous about starting and finishing. I just talked to the nursing advisor there and she said last class for the ADN of all the girls who took the NCLEX they had a 100% pass rate I felt releived on that part. Do you know if University of Colorado will take accept Denver nursing school credits if I wanted to finish my bachelors there?? Also I herad Denver CHildrens does not hire ADN nurses>??
