Re: Denver School of Nursing

Dear KJ0615,
so after the interview we should know fairly quickly if we got accepted or not? Did you start school today? That must be SO exciting.... I just can't wait. Are you in the ADN or BSN program?

DreamJob1976,

I still have one pre-req to finish up (A&P 2). I'm taking that at Arapahoe Community College. Where are you finishing up your pre-reqs at? Have you signed up for the interview? I do my on Tuesday afternoon. Monday was already full, but the ADN also starts the same day as our BSN program. So I'm thinking it's both those groups that are signing up. Have you sent out your official transcripts to the school yet? I did to make sure all my stuff got in on time. I did ask Jeff if he would take any of my letters of rec., but he said that wouldn't be necessary. Good back up plan, but I don't think you'll need them. As you said, all you need is to have your pre-reqs and financial obligations figured out. I also go all my shots done (still have to get the second chickenpox shot next week). Also, I signed up for the CPR class on Jan 10 at the Colorado CPR place off of Wadsworth and Yale. I really excited about the school. I actually had a friend that went there and loved it.

Good luck to you and if you do your interview after me, I'll let you know what's its like.

Lizzie

Re: Denver School of Nursing

Dear Lizzie,
I also have to finish A & P II.... I take my prereqs through Front Range Community College. I am also signed up for Pathophysiology through Colorado Community College online. I heard that the 1st term of the program is really intense and taking Pathophysiology beforehand will make it easier... But, I am not sure if I will go through with it yet. Depends if DSN will accept the credits for Patho from Front Range. I will ask Jeff Johnson during my interview. Yes, I am signed up for the interview. Mine is on Monday. I think they are just starting to interview next Monday for the July start date. I will post Monday afternoon and let you know how it went. I did not have my official transcripts sent to the school yet. Maybe I stop by Front Range today and have this arranged. Thank you very much for the reminder. I am also SO excited about DSN..... I can't wait to start! I drove around many area hospitals and talked to their HR departments and only got to hear very good things about DSN... Childrens, Rose, Swedish.... They all love DSN graduates. Well, I hope everything works out and we will be accepted for the July start date..... We hopefully know soon.... :-)

DreamJob1976,

Good luck with the interview. I'm sure you'll do great. I heard that they just show you around the school and ask you about your background and such. I was thinking about taking the pathophysiology course too, but I think I'll just take it at DSN. I think I can handle it. Plus we'll meet a lot of people there and make study groups. LOL! I also heard that you find out about acceptance two weeks after the interview and once all documents (official transcripts) are in. So make sure you get those sent off!

Good luck to those of you applying for the July start! Keep us posted on the whole application process. Hopefully everything works out for me and I'll be able to move out there and start in October (BSN)

Re: Denver School of Nursing

Hi Lizzie,
Thank you very much! Good luck to you as well. I am not too worried about the interview but just can't wait to know if July will work out. I am a Planner.. :-) In regards to Patho, I am still a bit undecided what I am going to do. I think that it might be better to take it at DSN so I can be sure I learn everything I need to know.... Patho is definetley a very important class and I don't want to fall behind just by taking it somewhere else. Know what I mean? Do you know how many people they accept per start date?
Well, let's keep in contact.. :-) There is a good chance that we will be in the same class.. :-) I stopped by Front Range and requested that my transcripts will be forwarded to DSN. They said it would take 24 - 48 hours until they go out in the mail. I might just make it.. :-)

Re: Denver School of Nursing

Dear salsaking,
we will definetely keep you posted. DSN is a very good school and you most likely will not regred moving out here to attend school. Finances will always work out somehow... They say there is only two types of "good" debt ..... Mortgages and student loans. Houses usually do not lose value and by advancing your education you will have a much brighter future. :-) That's what I tell myself when I get nervous.

Hey Everyone,

So I did the DSN interview and it was really easy. Jeff was so easy to talk to and answered all my questions. He showed me around the school and i totally feel in love with it. It has one of the best labs i've seen so far! I can't wait to get my admissions letter in the mail! hope all the interviews went well for others and hopefully we will be all starting in July!!!

Re: Denver School of Nursing

Hi,
same for me.... The inteview was very informative and comfortable. No suprise questions or anything like that. We were shown around and I must say that I now completely feel at peace with my decision to go to DSN. The school seems very well organized and very student oriented. They are also making huge improvements (Peds lab, Computer lab) etc. in order to provide their student with the best possible start. I was very impressed and hope that all of you have a great experience as well. Have a great day.

Re: Denver School of Nursing

Hi, Lizzie21:

I am glad that everything went so well - I thought it would. I just finished week 2 of the first quarter. There is a lot of reading, but so far my nose is above water. Look forward to seeing you in July!
