San Fran - where do you live?

I was looking at a couple of jobs that sound really attractive to me, but they are in San Francisco proper. Does anyone here work in SF? If so, where do you live? Is it feasible to live somewhere along BART and get to work, or does it just add too much time to an already long day? Any tips or pointers on where to look for a place to live? is it better to live down towards San Jose, or to try and cross one of the bridges? I have a child so I need to consider schools in there somewhere.

Thanks!

Re: San Fran - where do you live?

I live outside of San Francisco, on the peninsula. San Jose would be a long commute to San Francisco. Crossing the bridge would not be a bad idea, but again the commute can be difficult. There are also great hospitals outside of SF, if you wanted to live in San Jose.

I like the Peninsula. It is close enough to the city where you can drive or take public transport. BART can be accessed from Millbrae, which has a great public school system.

Check out www.craigslist.org under housing to get an idea of the price ranges for rentals and/or buying. Good luck!

Much prefer www.rent.com for finding a place, the other one is too scary, at least in my opinion.

And you definitely do not want to commute from San Jose to the city........look for a job first, and then the housing will easily follow. Do not do it the other way around.

LOL, thank you!!! After looking at the other link, I was pretty much terrified!
