San Diego nursing salaries?

I am planning to move to the San Diego area June 2008. I have 13 years nursing experience and I'm currently working as a staff RN on day shift in an ICU with benefits and base pay of $37.00/hr. I want to work ICU in a large hospital . Any advice on salary range for experienced ICU nurses in San Diego hospitals? I'm interested in Sharp, Scripps and UCSD healthcare.

Where do you work now? Your 37/hr is already good, IMHO if you are out of Cali, NYC, etc.

Question Re: San Diego nursing salaries?

I know I'm joining this thread late, but if still looking at please respond. I'm looking to relocate also to San Diego, but it will be awhile before I do. I'm a new grad and when I move to San Diego I will have 2 years experince as a Med Surg nurse. Are salarys better as a speciality nurse or a med surg nurse? I was thinking about working as an oncology nurse. Also I hear that San Diego does not pay as well, what is the average for 2 years experience? Also could you keep me posted on how your doing out there and what is going on with you. Thanks

Re: San Diego nursing salaries?

I had 1 year of med-surg experience and came on as an ICU intern. Started making $29/hr and a year and a half later make $34/hr. At my hospital, there are frequent raises to accomodate inflation and to stay competitive with union hospitals.
What's truly great about nursing in CA is the ratio laws. In the ICU, no more than 2:1 and there must be an actual nurse to relieve for lunches--no one can "just keep an eye out", and on the floor no more than 4:1.
