License renewal fees!

Can somebody please enlighten me about the disparity between LVN which RN renewal fees in California. LVN pays $125 while RN only pays $85. How is it based? The less education you have the more you pay or does LVN earned more than RN's in cali.? Thanks a bunch.

Re: License renewal fees!

California LVNs have less employment options than their RN counterparts, so the state probably presumes that these nurses will be more than willing to cough up the extra money to simply keep their licenses renewed. This is just an idea of mine, and not a scientifically proven fact.

Re: License renewal fees!

Thank you, Commuter for your kind words. But the fact is that California is the only state that charge and outrageous renewal fees for their LVN. The rest of the nation is equal to or less, besides Wisconsin that charge LPN $6 more than RN. Your State of Texas only charge 67 for both. What if they charge you $40 dollars more than the RN would you be outrage too? I guess 52 thousand plus LVN in California has no voice on this topic since nobody responded to this thread. Thanks a bunchJ

Re: License renewal fees!

That's too bad. I didn't know you were being screwed for an extra $40!!! That is totally ridiculous. My question is this,at one time the BRN was part of a Consumer division in some obscure department. This included most, if not all, persons who needed a license tp practice anything. The registered nurse part broke off years ago because we felt that grouping us with nail and hair stylist just wasn't right for our "professional" appearence. Is the LVN board still part of this or did you break off anf form your own department? If not then you might be paying more because you are making up the needed cost to run the department because all the others, bartenders, hair stylist, manicurist, barbers, etc sometimes don't make all that much and their salaries are usually based on supply and demand and not on a hourly wage. Just a thought.
