Re: grossmont college waiting list

I called the nursing office today and inquired about the science recentcy requirement. The requirement is in the last 5 years from the date of your application. So if you took it year one, and then you applied in year three and waited for two years, you still have met the science requirement.

Also, I spoke with one of the head counselors at Grossmont regarding the waitlist. She had a student that was told the same 2-3 years and got in last semster after only waiting 1 1/2 years. So, since so many people are now putting their names in everywhere and taking what first comes up, the lists are moving pretty quickly. once a person gets in, they are not calling to cancel. KWIM.

Re: grossmont college waiting list

That is very true that people don't call to take their names off the waitlist(s) and very true that the lists are starting to move faster as people apply to multiple programs. Its very encouraging to hear that your friend got in in 1.5 years. I hope that happens for me!

Re: grossmont college waiting list

scoobygal,

why wait that long? go to merick or sdsu, or concord, heck move to el centro for two years and go to school there. I have a friend who just did that and she acutally finished nursing school before me. Look Grossmont is a great school but don't put your life on hold.

If you went to one of the private colleges you could have you giant student loan paid off by the time you start school at grossmont. If you wait three to four years, that means it could take you upto 6 years for an associates degree. you could just about have a masters degree in that time.

When i went to grossmont it was still a 1.5 year waiting list, so it wasn't that bad. but wow 3-4 years!!! even if you were 26 now you would be in your 30s by the time you graduate.

This is just my opinion and others are going to blast me for even thinking of merick but, you need to consider other options.

one more thing, if you fail a class at grossmont, their policy is that you can rejoin once when there is an opening in the class you failed. so that could take upto a year to get back. if you fail a second time there is no coming back. Thats a little tidbit they don't tell you until you're already in class. I know you don't plan on failing or having to take time off but life happens.

anyway best of luck and congrats on getting into grossmont.

Re: grossmont college waiting list

I got an invitation to take the TEAS yesterday (I've already taken it, so that's actually one less thing I have to worry about). Does that mean I'm getting closer on the list, or does everyone on the waitlist get an invitation every semester?

when i got my invitation to take the TEAS, it said that if you have a passing score, you're still in the running to get an acceptance for the next semester. when i passed, i was accepted a couple days later. i dont know how the LVN-RN program works, but i think it's a good sign. i'd call the office & make sure that they have your previous TEAS scores on file for you.

Re: grossmont college waiting list

I sent them my TEAS results today (I passed with no problem) and got an email back saying my file had been updated. Ugh - this wait is killing me. It would be great to start next semester, but I don't want to get my hopes up.
