Re: grossmont college waiting list

Nope, I had time between the call and the start of the semester.

But you can always do it now!

Re: grossmont college waiting list

a little update: i emailed the grossmont nursing dept contact lady & asked how long the waiting list is & she emailed back to say that since my application was completed in may of 2005, that my "possible" start date would be fall of 2007 & that they hope to send me an invitation to the program at that time.

now, i don't want to get my hopes up, but do you think they'd even go as far as to say fall was my "possible" start date if it weren't more like a "probable" start date?

Re: grossmont college waiting list

I would think that they would "cushion" that start time. If she said Spring 2007 and it didn't happen, then you would be upset and raise h**l. If she said Fall 2007, then you would expect it to happen then. I would definitely be prepared to start in the Spring. I'm surprised that she didn't give a range like Fall 2007 OR Spring 2008.

You know keeping positive thoughts is the only way I'm getting through this wait. I hope it works out for you this Spring.

Re: grossmont college waiting list

did anyone read the article in the UT about the grossmont nursing program possibly losing it's national accreditation for not having enough full time faculty?

Here's the link if anyone wants to read it...

How important is it FOR THE STUDENT to go through a nursing program with national accreditation? Does it really matter if Grossmont stays accredited with the California Board of Nursing?

Re: grossmont college waiting list

Well from the meeting I attended, they told us that being accredited thru the California Board of Nursing is the important one, not the NLN. But man, now im starting to get worried.

If Grossmont is not NLN accredited, does that mean I can't work in a different state?

Re: grossmont college waiting list

from what the article said, it sounds like current students wouldn't be effected, just incoming students... but still, what does it mean? that new students won't be able to go out of state to get jobs?

also, i checked the NLN website & SDSU & point loma aren't NLN accredited, so maybe it's not that bad?

Re: grossmont college waiting list

SDSU has a different national accreditation.

Maybe the NLN will grant Grossmont an extension, I did plan on moving out of state, I need to talk to someone about this.
